Dim the lights after dark. Your eyes have specialized cells that detect blue light and signal to your brain that it's still daytime. Bright overhead lighting and screens in the evening suppress melatonin production and delay sleep onset. Swap to warmer, dimmer lights after sunset. Use blue-light blocking settings on your devices.

Be consistent. Your circadian clock thrives on predictability. Going to bed and waking at the same time—yes, even on weekends—is one of the most underrated health interventions available to you.

Ask your doctor about timing. If you're on any long-term medications, it's worth asking whether there's research on optimal dosing time. Don't be surprised if they don't know—but the conversation is worth having.
